COVID-19 Updates in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar – 12 March 2020

Recently, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar have implemented several preventive measures to fight against COVID-19. For your smooth traveling in the region, we will provide you the updated situation in each country in the last 7 days.


  • Number of cases: 39 (Active cases: 23; Recovered: 16)
  • Visa-wavier program for citizens from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Spain is suspended from 10 March. Travelers traveling to Vietnam from these countries need to apply for Visa on Arrival.
  • Health screening is performed at all airports, including temperature checks. Health declaration is mandatory for all incoming travelers to Vietnam. The form can be completed online at Or travelers have to fill out the form on arrival before the immigration desks.
  • Quarantine is mandatory for any people who show symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Several tourist sites are temporarily closed to contain the spread of COVID-19. See as below:

  • Number of cases: 70 (Active cases: 34; Recovered: 35; Died: 1)
  • Thailand cancelled the grant of visa on arrival for 18 countries (including Mexico, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan & Vanuatu) and visa exemption for three others (South Korea, Italy and Hong Kong) to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
  • Travellers from Covid-19 infected countries and territories (South Korea, mainland China, Italy, Iran, Macau and Hong Kong) must have medical certificates prior to boarding their flights to Thailand.
  • All inbound arrivals are required to provide personal information and contact information such as mobile phone numbers and email addresses when doing the immigration process from 12 March.
  • Temperature checking is applied for every one on arrival in Thailand. Those with fever or symptoms will be quarantined.
  • Many activities on Thai New Year celebrations including the famous Songkran festival are canceled.


  • Number of cases: 3 (Active cases: 2; Recovered: 1)
  • Temperature checking on arrival in Cambodia is required for all travelers.

Laos & Myanmar

  • No COVID-19 infected case
  •  All travelers are checked temperature on arrival as in other countries.
