Naga Rocket Festival

3/4/2015 4:32:19 AM

This rocket festival is a call for rain and a celebration of fertility. The fireballs can be seen brilliantly emerging from the water's surface once a year on the last night of the Lao Buddhist Lent (early October this year). The Naga Rockets can be spotted where the Nam Ngum River and the Mekong River meet in Thaprabath District as well as in Pak Ngum District, 60 km east of Vientiane.
